Randy Bury is the founder of Moderne Communities, a leading investment and development company located in Scottsdale Arizona. Under Randy’s leadership, Moderne Communities has developed multiple build-to-rent communities including the first horizontal apartment project in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The company focuses on land acquisition and entitlement investment verticals in Phoenix, Las Vegas and Tucson. The first vertical purchases land to entitle, build, develop, and manage multi-family/build to rent projects and the second vertical purchases land to entitle/engineer and sell directly to end users who could range from public homebuilders to Industrial Users inclusive of IT Infrastructure Users. Currently, the company owns two build-to-rent communities totaling more than 400 units, 700 platted and engineered lots, and a parcel with more 840 acres with an approved Specific Plan for a mixed use masterplan community.
Randy’s career spans more than 30 years in home building, land acquisition and development. He was a senior executive for one of the top three U.S. public homebuilders. where his divisions closed more than 7,000 homes and produced revenues north of $2 billion. In 2004, he left behind corporate life to go out on his own and started Randall Martin Homes. The home building company developed approximately 1,000 lots and closed over 470 homes in its first three years of operations.
Randy and Moderne Communities have received multiple recognitions. Builder and Developer Magazine recognized Randy as a “Who’s Who” in real estate development. In 2024, AZ Big Media named Randy Bury to the publication’s People to Know in CRE. In 2025, Moderne at Rocking K was named a RED award finalist for best built-to-rent community in Arizona. In 2026, Moderne at Rocking K received a Business Rate Best Of award for top apartment community complex in the Tucson area.
Originally from Ohio, Randy graduated from Ohio State University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. He continued his education at the university’s Fisher School of Business, earning his MBA in Finance and Real Estate. He is an active member of the SNHBA, Urban Land Institute and the National Association of Homebuilders.
